IT'S BACK! -
St. Benedict School's original web address
sbspanthers.org is once again directing
users to the school's website. Much
easier to remember than www.daj.k12... and
on and on.
SCHEDULE
CHANGE
The new year
has brought changes in scheduling for the
students and teachers. There are four
teachers who teach students in grades 4-8.
To facilitate the back to school night for
those teachers, we have decided to have back
to school night for grades 4-8 on Wednesday,
September 10, 2008. There will be no back to
school night on Thursday. Parents will
receive a schedule and visit each of the
core classes. We are looking forward
to seeing you at back to school night.

Activities
St.
Benedict Parish School students in grades
K-8 are taking part in a Baptism Buddy
Program. Children who are baptized in
the parish will be paired with a particular
grade. Teachers will organize the the
program so that our school students will
send a card of Welcome to the family on the
occasion of the child's Baptism. This
child will also receive a birthday card from
the class until they reach the age of five.
Baptism happens not only to the individual
and their families, but also to Christ's
body, The Church. As a school
community, our students will welcome the new
member to our Parish community.
Baptism begins with God's love and care
revealed to us through Christ. It
continues with us, The Church, living and
enacting God's love and care through Christ
to the world. We hope that this
program will emphasize Baptism as birth into
the new life in Christ.
Let it be known to all who enter here that Christ is the reason for this school, the unseen but ever-present Teacher in its classes, the Model of its faculty, the Inspiration of its students.
Our family of Saint Benedict nurtures faith development by daily community and personal prayer and participation in liturgy. The religious atmosphere of our school encourages the application of our Catholic Christian faith in everyday situations by responding to the person of Christ present in others.
Our academic program is presented from Pre-school through Eighth Grade in a positive and supportive climate to ensure that all students with their various learning styles progress toward higher levels of thinking.
Our vision to instill Christian values encompasses the physical, intellectual, social, and spiritual development of each student. We strive to foster a positive self-awareness which leads to the accountability of responsible choices. Our recognition of diversity within the school community creates an atmosphere of respect for self and for others.
Our professional and personal interactions manifest our efforts to cooperate and to mutually support one another in a Christ-like manner as members of God's family. We recognize and affirm the parents' role as primary educators of their children. We respect their choice of a Catholic education and accept the trust they have placed in the faculty and administration of the school.
